Agribusiness TV is a web TV which aims at using videos as a promotion tool to (re)valorise agriculture and make the sector more attractive to youth by showcasing success stories of young agricultural entrepreneurs and their innovations in Africa.
With a population of over a billion, of which 70% are aged below 30 years, and the rapid emergence of a middle class eager to spend, Africa is one of the most dynamic regions in the world. Africa is a continent which is highly dependent on the agricultural sector for its economic development, as well as food security and employment.
But despite all these, most young Africans are not attracted to agriculture due to its image, its insecurity, its lack of competitiveness and support.
The mission of Agribusiness TV is here. To show that we can innovate in the agricultural sector. To show also that we can live a good life.
A media designed for mobile phones
A media designed for mobile phones, one of the challenges of Agribusiness TV is to produce videos that will move from one mobile phone to another via Facebook, or exchanged by Bluetooth when the connection is not good.
Video reports in 4 African countries… to start
Agribusiness TV is starting with video reports in 4 countries in West and Central Africa: Burkina Faso, Benin, Côte d’Ivoire and Cameroon.
In each of these countries, a multimedia journalist works on the production of video reports on successful young entrepreneurs along the value chain. Agribusiness TV aspires to gradually cover other African countries.
Agribusiness TV is an initiative of MEDIAPROD, supported by the Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA) through its Agriculture, Rural Development and Youth in the Information Society (ARDYIS) Project.
